It’s official: On Friday, February 17, 2017, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) acquired SimpliVity, a leading provider of software-defined hyperconverged infrastructure.
According to the official press release: "With this game-changing acquisition, together we will deliver the industry’s only 'built-for-enterprise' hyperconverged offering. We will help customers simplify their IT operations and provide developers with enterprise data services across hyperconverged, 3PAR storage, composable infrastructure, and multi-cloud offerings."
The press release continues:
Why this is game-changing
This acquisition expands our leading portfolio of Hybrid IT solutions as it accelerates HPE’s strategy to deliver a modern multi-cloud, multi-IaaS platform powered by IT automation software and composable infrastructure.
It also improves our mutual competitive position and will accelerate our joint growth in the high-margin, $2 billion hyperconverged market, which is growing at 25 percent CAGR.
Our strategy is simple and clear—to be the industry's leading provider of Hybrid IT, built on a secure, next-generation, software-defined infrastructure that will run customers’ data centers today, bridge them to multi-cloud environments tomorrow, and enable the emerging Intelligent Edge that will power campus, branch, and IoT applications for decades to come.

What to expect
Partners currently selling the Hyperconverged 380 and the Hyperconverged 250 should continue to sell hyperconverged solutions, and we will work together to deliver upgrade paths to meet customer needs.
Partners selling SimpliVity solutions will see no immediate change in the product roadmap, and HPE will continue to support SimpliVity customers and platforms. We intend to continue SimpliVity channel relationships to simplify our shared customers’ transition.
