According to an announcement from NJHIMSS Board Officer, Tom Gordon, MBA, SVP and CIO, Virtua Health, Inc. (the newly-elected President of the NJHIMSS Chapter), sent to Rachel:
"On behalf of NJHIMSS membership, and the NJHIMSS Board members I would like to congratulate and welcome you to the NJHIMSS Board. As you know, NJ HIMSS, the New Jersey Chapter of the national organization HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), is a non-profit organization focused on providing leadership in healthcare information technology management. The Chapter promotes professional approaches to the operation, development, and improvement of health care information and management systems that support the provision of high quality patient care at the lowest practical cost.
As a Board member of NJHIMSS you are a representative of the Chapter to external audiences, organizations and agencies, including the community at large. Through our events and committees there are numerous opportunities to represent the NJHIMSS members and community and there are opportunities for you to chair (lead) those committees."

According to William Rochford, Director of Business Development, Derive Healthcare: "Derive's Executive Team is thrilled about Rachel Schaeffer's appointment to the NJHIMSS Board. This position will enable Rachel to bring her considerable experience in healthcare technology to a series of critical dialogues surrounding the delivery of care and related services to healthcare organizations throughout New Jersey. It will also help Derive to develop a knowledge base that will support the formulation of technology and other solutions, with Derive's strategic alliance partners, that can further improve a hospital or other provider's patient care, customer service, operational efficiency, compliance, and lower their service costs and environmental footprints."
